Construction Updates

Latest Update 6/29/2020

Pouring Concrete on Roof Level 

We have completed pouring concrete through the 6th floor and are in the process of pouring concrete for the roof.  Other building materials will be used for the last level, which includes building amenities.  


Reminder:  During this aboveground concrete pour phase, you’ll see concrete trucks traveling in and out of the property every two or three days.  The trucks will continue to access the site between 7 AM and 7 PM.  


Perimeter Framing

We are installing perimeter framing on the first, second and third floors, starting at Edgemoor Lane, moving towards Moorland Lane.  Crews are also setting framing for the windows.


Roughing in Mechanical and Electrical

Rough-ins are ongoing and we are about 90% complete up to the first floor.  


Plumbing risers for sanitary and sewer lines have been installed through the second floor, with installation underway on the third floor.  


We are also installing the sprinkler standpipe, which travels vertically to supply water for the sprinkler system on all floors.  We finished installing the standpipe up to the fourth floor.  Sprinkler installation will occur separately.

Utility Undergrounding

At Edgemoor Lane and Arlington Road

Work is underway to install conduit for Verizon, Comcast and Montgomery County fiber and copper lines.  Once the lines are spliced and installed, Verizon will remove the overhead lines.


At Moorland Lane and Arlington Road

Pepco duct bank installation is complete and a new pole has been placed on Arlington Road.  Pepco will pull its lines from the duct bank to attach to the pole.  We are also installing the fourth Pepco vault.  While the other vaults were precast concrete, we must pour concrete for the fourth vault due to its location on the site.  


Reminder about Arlington Road and Access to The Christopher 

Christopher residents are able to access their garage, however access to the circle will vary, based on the work being done. 


Because traffic is lighter during the COVID-19 crisis, the County has extended partial lane closures to between 7 AM and 5 PM, provided that at least one lane in each direction remains open.  When work is complete each day, the work will be plated and the closed lanes will reopen.  


Worksite Safety Precautions 

We are continually reviewing our safety precautions on the worksite and making adjustments as needed.  Our on-site safety team-members place wristbands on each person entering the site after confirming they are temperature free with a noncontact thermometer.  The wristbands change color each day. We also maintain a daily log of each employee screened.   


All workers are required to wear masks.  We also installed additional hand sanitizer stations.  


Signs have been posted at each gate with information on preventing the spread of the virus, and at bathrooms with hand washing recommendations.  In addition to ensuring adequate supplies of hand sanitizer at the portable toilets, a hand-washing sink stocked with soap and paper towels is now on the site.  


Everyone working on Maizon Bethesda is frequently reminded of the need for regular hand-washing and maintaining social distancing.  People showing signs of being sick are instructed to stay home.  And anyone who shows signs of being sick while on the site will be sent home.   


Our Maizon Bethesda construction team continues to monitor local and national recommendations with regards to Covid-19 and will make adjustments as the situation progresses. 

Hours of Operation

Hours of operation at the construction site are 7 AM–7 PM Monday through Friday and 9 AM–3 PM in public areas. Saturday hours are from 9 AM–3 PM due to noise restrictions. We will be taking onsite deliveries from 7 AM–7 PM.
